I went to the Britzer Garten yesterday where they have display of dahlias at the moment and I took lots of pics of gorgeous flowers.

I love dahlias. They come in all colours from white to yellow to pink to orange to red so dark that they were almost black. And they come in all kinds of shapes, too.

Mario and a few friends and I went to the Teufelsberg on Friday to see the fireworks form Pyronale (a fireworks competition). I haven't gone through all the pics form the fireworks and form what I've seen they are only so so. But this one was the moon setting next to an old cold war listening post and I think it just looks incredibly cool.

Also, I discovered an incredibly tasty, saffron flavored gin. Yum.

I talked to [livejournal.com profile] researchgrrrl just now and I've been telling her about my vacation in Istanbul pretty much until her phone battery gave out and that finally made me get off my butt and search out some of the pictures I took. So here are some unsorted impressions from that very pretty city.

sparrow and sparrow upside down

That guy was way more interested in collecting thistle fluff for his nest than fleeing from that weird human with the clicking black box.

So last weekend was Berlin's annual Karneval der Kulturen (carneval of cultures), a big celebration of all the different people from different cultural backgrounds living in the city. There's a big street fair and a parade.

So, it turns out taking lots and lots of photos during Fedcon was awesome and fun. Sorting them and making them pretty for posting... slightly less so. And it was a lot more time consuming, too.

David enjoyed his knitted Daleks and I was happy, that he liked them. Sadly, I didn't get a picture of Gareth and his piece of cuddly evil, but I guess a girl can't have everything.

So this weekend the weather was gorgeous and I have a new fancy SLR. What does that mean? Right, pictures of critters.

I like crows. I think they are cute. They are very smart and they'll hold still long enough to get a decent photo.

After the Christmas goose I'd spent 5 hours cooking, had been wolfed down in about 20 minutes, I left my brother to wash the dishes and went to play with his camera at the nearby horse racing training track.

On Friday I went out with some of my guys to take photos during the Festival of Lights. Georg had lent me his digital mirror reflex camera and I'd borrowed a tripod from Andy, so I have actual photos to show.

During the festival various buildings and landmarks all over the city are illuminated with coloured lights. A lot of the places with colour changes and moving lights don't photograph that well since the necessary exposure times are to long, but I got a few nice pictures.
